Thank God It's Friday

My original intention was to post the R Kelly video of Thank God It's Friday, but every version of the video on youtube has disabled embedding. This bugs me, cause really... why can't you embed? After all.. it's just promoting the song for the artist and the record label right? Besides, the song is so old that it's not like they're really missing out on money. There are no ads on youtube anyways, so it's not like they're missing out on the add money if it's embedded. I'm not really sure what the reason is for it, but it makes this post suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

None the less.. here is the link: R Kelly - Thank God It's Friday

This is what it look like

Produced by DJ Khaled...WE GLOOOOOBAL...oh wait...I meant DJ Khalil.
Unlike Khaled, Khalil is doesn't act like a douche and yell all over everyone single one of his beats. My bad.

Hip Hop Broke My Heart

It's official, hiphop has broken my heart. It was broken by the stanky leg. For those that don't know, its the latest in a long line of stupid dances to come out of the south. The thing that kills me isn't that these guys are making garbage music (cause there's plenty of garbage music to go around), what gets me is how popular this crap becomes!! I don't get it.

When you break hiphop down, there is VERY little credibility. The music itself is produced by someone else (and is usually a sample) so there isn't any musical credibility for the artist (save for a few rapper/producers). They can't sing, so there isn't any VOCAL talent. The only thing that keeps hiphop from being just someone talking is flow and lyrical talent. Really, that's ALL hiphop is, and that's all it could ever be... so GOOD hiphop SHOULD potentially be the best display of flow and lyrical talent, cause otherwise, the rapper is USELESS and its only the producer that has any talent.

I don't think this was any more true than during the 90's when there were epic rap battles (BDP vs. MC Shan for example) where someone's career might end. Unfortunately talent doesn't sell records, or at least not millions and millions per album. We can blame Diddy, and a bunch of others for diluting the talent pool and making commercial hiphop, but let's be honest... hypnotize is jiggy as hell and we still love Biggie.

What KILLS me is all the garbage that is actually becoming popular these days. If you dissect Crank That, there's NOTHING good about the song. It's production is garbage, the lyrics are garbage, the dance is too. There isn't a positive thing you can say about the song except how infectious it was. And when you call someone on it, they say "its just club music.. its not supposed to be intelligent". JUST CLUB MUSIC.... Rapper's Delight is club music, Hip Hop Horray is club music, hell, even Jump Around is club music and they ALL have good flows and lyrics. I can't get over all the excuses to cover up the lack of talent from the south. "He's just gettin his paper" REALLY? It's okay to sell out ur own culture for monetary gain? So what about a black Judge? He's just gettin his money, but now you say he works for the "white man"...

C'mon, let's stop covering up the real truth here. People just like watever is on the radio, and the radio music is chosen by what is pushed from the labels. Record labels said catchy garbage music will sell ring tones, and these artists are idiots anyways, so they won't negotiate contracts.

It's really no wonder why house music is taking over the club scene in Vancouver... you HAVE to play house because there isn't any decent new hiphop these days. So, Enjoy the stanky leg video...
